Heaven on Earth

What a joy it was this morning, to celebrate the Divine Service for the first time as a mission. A small, yet faithful group of God’s adopted children gathered together in a small house chapel to hear the word preached, to be forgiven of their sin, and to receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ. I am joyful and hopeful, looking forward to the work God plans to entrust us with in this community, and though there will surely be Sundays where the pews are empty, we can be sure in knowing that God’s word does not return void.

Standing at the altar, holding in my hands the body and blood of my Savior, is a moment so profound that words fail to describe it… What an incredible reality, that God is so gracious that He makes Himself present for us in and with the bread and wine, for us to eat and drink for the remission of sin… God loves us, His adopted children so immensely, that He meets us, united to these earthly elements, so that we can truly “taste and see that the Lord is good”… What doubt can there be that God has claimed you as His own, as His treasure, when He gives Himself to us in this way?

It is my earnest prayer, and my most joyful hope, that many will come to experience this unfathomable gift, here with us each Sunday.

God’s richest blessings to you dear reader, know that you have my prayers!

Pax Christi!
